Natural Evolution
2 in 1 Basketball court mural
An urban space in transformation—an artwork that evolves with it. This horizontal mural tells the story of a site undergoing renewal: over the course of a year, asphalt gave way to greenery.
The only element that remained unchanged was the basketball court, which became the starting point for a visual narrative in two acts.
Two murals, created one year apart in the exact same spot.
The first depicted a geometric, static caterpillar, positioned along the axis from the basket to the free-throw line.
A year later, in the same place, a butterfly emerged. Its wings open, but the body structure remains—built from a sequence of vibrant hexagons.
A symbolic and physical evolution that reflects the transformation of the surrounding space.
This mural is not just decoration—it interacts with the game and the location.
The hexagons double as shooting markers: from the free throw to three-point shots, like a playground version of “around the world.”
A project where art, urban renewal, and play come together—leaving a living trace in the everyday landscape.
